When Jeanju and Maruchi first began planning their wedding, their hearts were set on France — a destination celebration filled with elegance and European charm. But as their story evolved, they realized what they wanted most was to celebrate surrounded by family, heritage, and home. The result was a modern Korean wedding at The Admiral’s House in Seattle, blending clean design with deep cultural meaning and a party energy that could only be described as electric.
The aesthetic was bold and modern — a sleek black, white, and green palette layered with texture and symbolism. Together, with the Events by Genevieve design team, we curated an environment that was sophisticated yet deeply personal. One of our favorite design moments was the seating: alternating chair cushions that subtly echoed the checkerboard dance floor in the reception space. It was contemporary and graphic, yet still warm — an intentional reflection of who they are as a couple and consistent with the style we bring to the Pacific Northwest event space.
At this waterfront estate venue in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood, the ceremony and reception took full advantage of the grounds and the view of the Puget Sound. The floral design by @emeraldcityflowers drew on a modern chartreuse green and white color palette with blooms including amaranthus, Queen Anne’s lace, orchids, hydrangeas, anemones, and seasonal dogwood branches. The bride carried an elegant bouquet of white roses and cascading orchids. Floral centerpieces included ikebana-inspired arrangements and bud vases surrounded by romantic pillar candles and sleek miniature table lamps to create a refined and warm ambiance. The ceremony space featured a floral ground arbor with flowers designed in groupings with varying blooms and heights, creating an intimate meadow for the couple to say their vows.
Throughout the day, meaningful details told their story. Korean wedding cranes, symbols of longevity and love, were delicately incorporated into the dinner menus by @honest.calligraphy, appearing like hidden art waiting to be discovered. Guests sipped on soju-yakult cocktails, a playful nod to nostalgia and cultural pride, and admired a custom soju tower that became a showpiece during dinner — until the groom, mid-celebration, accidentally toppled it in one of the night’s most memorable (and hilarious) moments.
The culinary and design fusion continued through the cake. Created by Jenae at @cakeandcrumble.pnw, the couple’s wedding cake was inspired by a traditional Italian style but reimagined with an Asian twist — a chiffon white cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, dusted with powdered sugar. Jenae stayed on site to assemble it as the guests watched, and in a moment that felt straight out of a movie, Jeanju and Maruchi finished it together, smiling as their guests cheered.
Before joining the reception, the couple shared an intimate paebaek ceremony with @seattlekoreanweddings, honoring their families in a quiet, emotional moment that beautifully contrasted the energy of the evening to come. By sunset, the clear-top tent glowed against the Seattle skyline, the rain had passed, and the celebration came alive. The transparent canopy framed views of the surrounding trees and Puget Sound, embracing the Pacific Northwest setting while keeping the design modern and architectural. @bluewaveband and @sp.weddings kept the floor full all night — and it truly never emptied once.
Three days before the wedding, we had made the critical call to commit to a rain plan, installing the clear-top tent early in the week. When rain poured from noon to three on the wedding day, every rental, linen, and floral design was protected. By the time guests arrived, the sky cleared and the tent shimmered with light, creating the most romantic setting imaginable.
It was a night of style, warmth, and joy — the kind of wedding that reminded everyone present what celebration is all about. Jeanju and Maruchi’s day perfectly captured the essence of modern meets meaningful, combining cultural heritage, impeccable design, and a dance floor that defined “unforgettable.” If you’re envisioning a luxury waterfront wedding at the Admiral’s House Seattle — designed by Events by Genevieve to reflect your unique story and elevated sense of style — we’d love to bring it to life.
